Installation art brings our visual experience of art to the third dimension, Fenzzo is a collective of artists and designers that combine elements of nature, light, shadow and strings through meticulous geometric art installations.
The Edifice
At 3 metres high, edifice consists of 3 triangular faces and an inverted prism-like core that allows viewers to observe and visually interact with the geometric positioning of its strings.
As sunlight beams on the installation, complex shadow formations start immersing and defining the artwork's perimeter, simultaneously creating an art piece on the ground made by the installation's shadow.
The triangle component creates the three faces of the installation and acts as the supporting element to the core 'crystal'. The pattern in which the strings are threaded on each of the elements creates a double-layered arch where the first layer exposes the heart of the installation and the second layer outlines the individual slanted frames with contrasting vault-like borders
The 'crystal' is the inverted triangular pyramid at the center of the installation and the focal point of the artwork. It connects the three slanted triangular frames and directs them to an acrylic pyramidion that sits on top of the structure that casts a yellow beam on the strings, illuminating the installation during daytime.
The Dove
From a certain perspective, the installation forms two Emirati sailboats(dhow), on the other, the installation forms a bird with its wings spread. These two elements allude to the country's heritage and culture as well as its values of originality, nobility, and openness to the world.
Colored strings were used as the main compound of the artwork to create fluidity and a natural look to the piece, this also allows Fenzzo to work with shadows and lights, as the backdrop of the installation will be another artwork made by the sun using the installation's shadow.
