Juniper's Club are an indie pop duo based in Bahrain consisting of Debbi Francisco and Sean Fernandes. The duo were already in a few bands together when they decided to create Juniper's Club. From 70's space disco and 90's down-tempo synth pop to jazz, the band can take you on a compelling auditory journey with their music.
Where did the name ‘Juniper’s Club’ come from?
"We were really drawn to the word Juniper and decided to create a character based on that name and to craft the story of Juniper’s life journey, writing songs about her life and the different stages of it as she grows up and gets older, it’s like a club in Junipers mind that’s rooting for her .The club part also has a another purpose it’s our thought of making it a unique experience just like a special club would be as we want to connect with people through our music."
What genre would you place yourselves in?
"There isn’t any defined genre we would want to put ourselves in, a lot of our inspirations come from a whole range of genres, ranging from synth pop to disco and everywhere in between but we do feel the music we create involves a lot of self actualisation and in a nutshell is alternative pop hinting a bright eyed dreamier side of things."
What’s the story behind Run Baby?
"The idea of Run Baby started with trying to create something people can sing along at our live shows with the phrase "I got my records, baby" instantly striking a chord with us .The track musically is heavily drawn from the sounds of 70s soul records and features our first collaborator with Gofer (John Goodwin) adding his wisdom and charm to the track as well as co producing it. As for the lyrical aspect we wanted to tell a story of a relationship that’s turned sour and how it takes a toll on the psyche of Juniper, it plays out as her inner monologue. "
