A thrilling story about an actress trying to make it against all odds, this short film tackles inequality and unfair advantages in the industry. Created by, directed by, and starring Raindance Film School student Rania Tahiri, the film centers on the journey of Nora, an aspiring actress.
Making her directorial debut, Tahiri commented "It was very exciting and super nerve-racking but it was interesting to step behind the camera for once and understand that perspective. When you’re on camera, you’re so hung up on your performance you don’t really notice anything else."
On challenges in production Tahiri said: "Having to get our own resources,
scout for locations, buy the costumes and all of that was a challenge as students. But I'm very glad we made it work. Also there were a lot of scenes that might look very easy to make but actually took ages. There were a lot of obstacles during filming with audio and light and technical difficulties but I'm very grateful for my team as they were able to overcome anything that came our way. They made this process from script to screen seem very smooth."
The film contrasts two characters, Nora, and her friend Irene, who is wealthy and has the connections to make it in the industry. "It’s about the disparity in class between these two women but also how you can take matters into your own hands to work things into your favor. Your future is in your hands, regardless of your circumstances."
Dariya Smolina, who plays Irene commented "Frankly speaking it was pretty easy for me, I really enjoyed being spoiled, but I hated giving that toxic vibe from my side cause it’s unusual for me"

Tahiri commented on her character "I think as an actress myself I
didn’t have to do much prep or character work to get into her head because I’m a lot like her. I see a lot of myself in some of her qualities and things I wish she would change. It was a
challenge to get out of the role at times, especially during emotional scenes such as the one where Nora is overwhelmed with tears of joy when she gets the email that she gets the part. That was a tough scene for me to get into but I love how it turned out! I’m very happy with Nora’s journey!"
Miguel Martinez, who plays Mr. Wilkerson, a producer in the story, explained "The biggest challenge in playing my character was understanding the approach. At first, I thought this film producer would act arrogant and impatient. However, discussing the approach
with the director, Rania, she was able to make me understand that this character was professional and very sympathetic."
He further added "I really enjoyed working in this film because I haven’t been given the chance to act on a role of a wholesome film. This film has helped me broaden my talent in acting, even if it was for a short screen time. Working on the set was fun with Rania, and I can’t wait to see more of her acting in her or other future projects."
On a memorable moment in production, Tahiri said: "On the last day, the scene where Nora gets a big audition opportunity and she jumps with joy, it was the last scene of the last day and when we finished and I had to call for a wrap - I remember crying because it was such a beautiful moment. I was just very emotional to have completed my first film with wonderful people and I won’t forget that!... I’m grateful for my AD (Aleeza Mogul) who always kept the focus when we were tired and for my DOP (Kezia Malcolm) for the trust we gave each other because there were a lot of experimental shots we did on set and we didn’t know if it would work or not. I like that it didn’t feel strict and that we enjoyed it, it was a memorable experience."
